Privacy Policy

- No sign-up: Floaty uses an anonymous account. We never ask for your email, phone number or real name.
- Your drawings are shared only with the one person you connect with, and are deleted automatically 90 days after they are sent (or right away if either of you disconnects).
- We don't sell your data, and we don't use analytics or tracking tools.
- The free version shows a rewarded ad only when you choose to watch one. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.
1. Who we are
Floaty (“the app”) is made by NerdFactory Studio (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Questions or requests: nerdfactorystudio@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect

Kept only on your phone
Drawings you haven’t seen yet, your settings (quiet hours, language, pen colours, widget drawings) and today’s send count are stored on your device and are not sent to us. Drawings are saved to your photo gallery only when you tap “Save to Gallery”. Floaty does not read your photos.
What we don’t collect
We don’t collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone or camera data, and we don’t use analytics or crash-reporting services.
3. Advertising
In the free version you can send 10 drawings a day. When you run out, you can choose to watch a rewarded ad to get 5 more. Ads are shown only when you tap to watch one, never on your lock screen.
Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, device information and how you interact with the ad, as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), we ask for your consent before ads are loaded, and you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Unlimited → Ad privacy settings. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone’s Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
If you buy Unlimited, no ads are shown and no ads are loaded.
4. How we use information
- To deliver drawings between you and the person you connect with, and show notifications.
- To show your shared drawings, names and day counter.
- To limit free sends, offer rewarded ads, and provide Unlimited to people who purchased it.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don’t use your information for profiling, and we don’t sell or rent it to anyone.
5. Who we share it with
- The person you connect with sees the drawings you send, your name (if set), whether they have seen a drawing, and the start date.
- Google provides our infrastructure as a service provider: Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, App Check), Google Play (payments) and AdMob (ads). See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
6. Where your data is stored
Drawings, names and connection details are stored in Google Cloud in Montréal, Canada. Google services such as Cloud Messaging, Play and AdMob may process data in other countries, including the United States, under Google’s safeguards.
7. How long we keep it
- Drawings: deleted automatically 90 days after they are sent. If either person disconnects, all shared drawings and the connection are deleted right away.
- Invite codes: 10 minutes.
- Anonymous account ID, device messaging ID and name: kept while you use the app, until you delete them (Settings → Delete all my data) or ask us to.
- Purchase records: kept as long as needed to provide Unlimited and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete shared drawings: Settings → Disconnect deletes all drawings you shared and the connection, for both of you.
- Keep a copy first: “Save to Gallery” saves drawings to your phone.
- Delete all your data: Settings → Delete all my data deletes your connection and shared drawings, your name, device messaging ID, purchase records and your anonymous account from our servers, and erases Floaty’s data on your phone. You can also email us at nerdfactorystudio@gmail.com and we will delete it within 30 days.
- Access or correct: you can ask what we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw consent: for ads, use Ad privacy settings or your Android ad settings; you can stop using the app anytime.
Under Canadian law (PIPEDA) and Québec law (Law 25), you may also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
9. Permissions the app asks for
- Display over other apps — to show drawings you receive over your lock screen and home screen.
- Notifications — for new drawings and “seen” notifications.
- Battery optimization exception — so drawings arrive on time.
- Storage (Android 9 and older only) — to save drawings to your gallery when you ask.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to stored data is limited by security rules so that only the two connected people can read their drawings, and App Check blocks requests that don’t come from the genuine app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Children
Floaty is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For important changes we will let you know in the app.
